‘Exercise is good for your body as well as your mind’. That's how I proclaimed it until a few years ago, because theoretically I knew it was so...but I wasn't really an example of that myself. Under the motto ’teach what you preach,’ I made a commitment to incorporate movement as a regular part of my life, though. This is a commitment I made to please myself.
It started initially by taking up a challenge with a friend (I am sometimes quite competitive). We were going to participate in the ‘Biesbosch-challenge’ in the Netherlands....But I realized I wouldn't get very far with that on willpower alone....so, with a frightened heart, I posed the question to a personal coach To prepare for this.... Amaai...was that draining. I did make progress...but honestly...Wasn't ready for that challenge. However, we had a super cool day, with lots of fun and memories we will never forget. And! We made it to the finish line (in how many places I leave to the imagination 😉 )
After this challenge, I knew it was important to continue what I had built. The personal coach was super for me, but for myself I found it annoying that I was stuck with hours, around which I had to build everything. There was someone waiting for me....that might have been too much pressure for me personally. For someone else, however, this can be very motivating. Everyone is different.
So I switched to a fitness center. This had never attracted me before. I had this idea that it was only for superficial powerhouses (aiai...I am on thin ice). BUT, I quickly changed my mind. I found that it just did me a lot of good. Being allowed to be carefree and unconcerned with just my body really did feel good. A magical, for me, very fulfilling place! Nothing had to be done, but I could go in and out whenever I wanted, and it was a pleasantly respectful environment.
However, then came corona! The gym was mandatorily closing. This could throw a lot of spanner in the works.... Continue exercising at home....aiaiaiai... . First in the garden...but that was too much of a hassle for me to drag everything outside and depend on the weather. Then again, the garage was far too unsociable for myself... .
But I have found my thing for another six months at this point! My life is organized differently again and I continue to do the sport at home. I use my bathroom for this 4 times a week 🙂 . Which is cozy enough for me. I have my conveniences quickly at hand...and also immediately the blissfully rewarding shower. It does not require moving. Plus! No one can see me. I actually like that better than I thought. And...I get coached by a cool handsome guy via a paid app. There will be some other female or male coaches coming my way. Works fine by me for now 😉
Quite a turnover, but I persevere, because I really have the benefits of pick! I feel really fit, and it helps to put worries into perspective and let things go.
Sporting greetings
Isabelle
